…5 Benue Girls trainers in ICT

Commissioner for Energy, Science and Technology Benue State Dr. Godwin Oyiwona has revealed that the Benue State Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology is a research Oriented Ministry as manifested by series of innovations carried out by the Ministry.

Dr. Oyiwona also disclosed that the Ministry under his watch had  selected five Benue Girls and trained them in Information and Communication Technology( ICT) and have become trainers in ICT.

The Commissioner made the disclosure to Members of the Correspondents’Chapel when the leadership and Members of the Chapel paid him a courtesy call at the Ministry’s  Head Quarters.

He disclosed that the Ministry has produced disinfectant Tunels, Ventilators under going series of validity test by Medical experts, Digital Hand washing Machines, hand dryers and Sanitizers which are already in use.

The Commissioner further explained the disinfectant tunnels when released into the markets, will bring down the prices of the Tunel from N12 million to an affordable price.

He said the  cost of producing one disinfectant Tunels is about N2.5 million, as the materials that were used for the  production of the machines, were source locally.

The Commissioner further stated that the ministry was also sourcing funds to go into mass production of the disinfection tunnels and hand sanitisers to release into the markets”

“We  are currently looking at the possibility of raising grants from UNEP, UNIDO and other donor agencies to bring to reality some of the innovations of the ministry that are in the  pipelinel” The Commissioner stated.

“But for the hand sanitisers, the ministry had already release them into the market since it had gotten a nod from NAFDAC after completing all the necessary processes”He said.

The Commissioner thanked  Governor, Samuel Ortom for releasing funds to commence production and pointed out Finance as the major challenge of the ministry in executing its innovations and appealed for support from donor agencies.
