Energy Correspondents working with news media companies in Nigeria have elected new executives for their umbrella association, The association of energy correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC).
The new executives were elected at an election conducted at the NAEC national secretariat in Lagos on saturday.
The election saw Ugo Amadi emerge winner in the chairmanship contest.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman who takes over from Olu Philips of Channels television said ensuring peace and unity of purpose among members will be a cardinal policy to pursue in the course of his administration’s tenure.
In other positions, Adeola Yusuf of Platforms Africa emerged vice chairman, while Peter Uzoho of the ThisDay Newspaper assumed office as the new general secretary of the association.
AIT’s senior energy correspondent, Anthony Afemike Ebigie, is now the new treasurer of the association, while Mohammed Shosanya, of Daily Independent, takes over as new financial secretary of the association .Earlier, chairman of the electoral committee Emeka Ugwuanyi, harped on the need for peace and cordial relationship among members, and advised members on the need to continue to love each other in the overall interest of the association.
The tenure of the new exco is to run from 2024 to 2026.
