#EndSARS protest: Police panel of inquiry set to assess losses in Osun

As part of the efforts to ascertain the immediate and remote factors of the violence that gripped the nation during the #EndSARS protest, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, NPM, mni, set up a Panel of Inquiry to concerned states.

Osun State PPRO, SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, in a statement, noted that the high-powered committee arrived at Osun State on Friday, 13th November, 2020.

It was gathered that the committee would assess the losses suffered by the Nigeria Police Force during the #EndSARS protests.

The inauguration of the committee is aimed at capturing the pictorials of all damages done to Police infrastructure and personnel.

This would aid in proffering suggestions on possible interventions towards reconstruction, re-equipping, and requisite supports for the families of the deceased officers and the injured ones.

According to Opalola, “Immediately the committee headed by the CP Abutu Yaro, fdc arrived the state, they commenced their work by visiting the various scenes of the incident where police facilities were destroyed such as Isale Osun area, Oja-Oba area, Oju-irin (Railway Police Station) old garage area within Osogbo and they visited the victims too.

“Furthermore, the committee visited Ile-Ife Area Command and Owena Ijesa under Ilesa Area Command among other areas visited.”

Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Undie Adie, commended the committee for their selfless service.

He appreciated the law abiding citizens of the state for their cooperation and support during the trying periods.

The CP urged residents not to relent in giving useful and timely information to the police for the state to sustain the tempo of being the safest state in the country.
