Emulate Sir Ahmadu Bello’s leadership qualities — Buhari tasks politicians

President Muham madu Buhari has appealed to politicians to emulate the leadership qualities of the former Sardauna of Sokoto and premier of Northern Region of Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
The President who was represented by Chief of staff, Ibrahim Gambari gave the call at the 2023 Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial lectures and Award held at Lafia, Nasarawa state capital on Saturday.
According to him the Late Sardauna left good legacies from education, promoting religious beliefs and uplifting the people to building schools and awarding scholarships within the country and overseas.
“I appeal to leaders to ensure they emulate Sir Ahmadu Bello by investing more in the education sector,” she said.
The Chairman of Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong said the country had to get it right in terms of the challenges bedeviling the country despite the fact Sir Ahmadu Bello laid a good legacies.
He said that there was a need for collaboration regularly to have information and share data as they begin to implement decisions, especially on security.
He said to address the issue of high youth unemployment, available resources as well as build world class skills acquisition centres across their states is necessary as our forefathers have laid the apparatus.
The Guest Speaker, Prof. Patrick Lumumba stressed that the legacies of patriotic Nigerians like Sir Ahmadu Bello is dying as result of bad governance.
He said, “Until we eliminate selfishness and embrace equity, fairness and show patriotism Africa will continue to remain where it is today.”
The Managing Director, Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Abubakar Umar, said the foundation would continue to work and ensure the continued promotion of the legacies of the late northern premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello, by promoting unity.
He said the foundation had been carrying out a lot of developmental activities and interventions, most especially on education, entrepreneurship skills acquisition, health, among others.
