A 30 year-old account officer, Eniola Olagunju, on Friday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing N3.6 million belonging to his employer.
The defendant whose address was not given is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant and others, still at large, committed the offences on Aug. 24, at 09:00 a.m. at Grace and Mercy Initiative, Ojueromi Street, Okitipupa.
Omoyeigha said that the defendant and his accomplices stole N3.6 million belonging to his employer, Grace and Mercy Initiative.
He added that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9), Vol.1, Cap.37 of Criminal Code Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Mosunmola Ikujuni, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sums.
Ikujuni said that the sureties must present evidence of a year tax clearance paid to the state government.
She said that the sureties must also have landed property within Okitipupa Magisterial District.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 30 for further hearing.
