Emir of Kano tasks security agencies on crime prevention

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has charged the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to put more effort into stemming the tide of crime in the state.

The emir stated this when he received the newly posted commissioner of police at his palace on Saturday.

Alhaji Ado Bayero, represented by Walin Kano, Alhaji Bashir Mahe, charged police officers to operate with the fear of God and work diligently according to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Police Act, 2020.

He urged security agencies to respect Human Rights, Rule of Law and work according to international best practices.

“We assure you of the support, prayers, and assistance of all the traditional institutions across the state,” he said.

Earlier, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Dauda stated that his purpose for the visit to the royal palace was to introduce himself to the emir and to seek prayers, cooperation, and fatherly advice to effectively police Kano State.

“We will continue to work to the best of our ability to ensure peaceful coexistence in the State,” the CP stated.
