The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara Council of Chiefs, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Wednesday, played host to hundreds of indigenes of the emirate during a special prayer to commemorate his 25th year on the throne.
Our Correspondent reports that the prayer was at the instance of the indigenes of Ilorin emirate, both at home and in the Diaspora.
Our Correspondent also reports that the prayer, led by the Chief Imam of llorin, Alhaji Muhammed Bashir, featured recitation of several portions from the Quran.
Bashir expressed gratitude to God for what he described as 25 years of greater success for the emir.
Bashir prayed for more successful reign for Sulu-Gambari and for more peace, unity, love and progress for the people of the emirate.
He also prayed Allah to continue to grant the emir sound health, strength and wisdom required to enhance greater progress and prosperity for Ilorin and the state in general.
Speaking with our Correspondent, Alhaji Otta Aliyu-Uthman, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), described the emir’s 25- year reign as developmental in all ramifications.
According to him, Sulu-Gambari’s reign has witnessed rapid socio-economic development, peace, unity and love in the emirate and the entire state.
The IEDPU president prayed for long life and sound health for the Emir so that more development could be recorded in the years ahead.
It would be recalled that Sulu-Gambari was installed as the 11th Emir of Ilorin on Nov. 11, 1995 by the then Military Administrator of the state, Group Captain Baba Adamu-Iyam.
