Elizade University stakeholders back digital research

Stakeholders that participated in the maiden edition of annual lecture of the Faculty of Human Resources, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo state have tasked  researchers who want to go deeper in scholarship with a view to becoming globally visible to embrace digitized technology in their frontier of knowledge.

Prof. J.A Fabayo, the Dean, faculty of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences gave the disclosure on Wednesday during the annual maiden edition lecture of the faculty.

The theme of this year’s lecture was “Research and Scholarship on the Humanities, Social and Management Sciences in the Digital Age.”

According to him, “Elizade University’s deliberate efforts are particularly made to encourage all academic staff and students in Humanities, Social and Management Sciences to engage in result-orientated research and scholarship activities in their areas of specialization.”

He said, “Interestingly, the world of research has moved from the analog styles and approaches in conducting researches to the deployment of digitalized technology in an exponential manner.

“Digital tools and other research technologies are fast becoming a new trend and new-normal in discovering, gathering, organising information and analyzing data in order to produce coherent research reports.

“Digitized technology now endears researchers in the humanities, social and management sciences disciplines to collaborate widely and efficiently across borders and space.”

Fabayo posited that this is one of the reasons why the University pays adequate attention to research, and makes available the most modern and up-to-date facilities in support of research and scholarship, particularly in the digital age with its emerging technologies for date generation, collection and analysis.

The Guest Lecturer, Prof. Saheed Aderinto said academics have to go ahead of transformation in the society, saying the transformation has to be reflective.

Prof. Aderinto, who said the digital methodologies are challenging, however, said research does not only serve to expand the frontier of knowledge, but is also a major driver of technological and socioeconomic development of human societies.

In his short remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olukayode Amund, who commended the guest lecturer, however, disclosed that all hands must be on deck in promoting digital research across all the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
