Elections: NSCDC deploys 1,836 personnel in Platea
The Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,836 personnel in the state ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
DSC Chrisantus Longbit, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command said this in a statement on Thursday in Jos.
He said that the deployment, approved by the Commandant, Alexander Barunde was aimed at ensuring a free, fair and credible elections and to ensure voters adhere to electoral procedures on election days.
”We want to assure the general public of our readiness and preparedness to adhere strictly to the electoral Act, rules of engagement for the conduct of elections and other extant laws of the land.
”Citizens are encouraged to exercise their civic rights without any fear of molestations and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner worthy of patriots.
”We also call on the citizens to report any suspicious persons, groups and movements that can lead to the breach of peace, breakdown of law and order or spark of electoral violence,” he said.
Longbit, however, advised residents to desist from any act that would lead to break down of law and order before, during and after the elections.
He said that those who violate the law would be punished.
