EKSG to commence water dredging in flood prone areas

The Ekiti State Government has started deploying the newly acquired river dredgers to clear water in flood prone areas in Ado-Ekiti.

One of the machines has commenced the dredging of Awedele river which has been posing threats to residents since the commencement of rain.

Residents of the area tripped out to give the needed support to government officials who came for the assignment.

Some of them who spoke with Nigerian NewsDirect in Ado-Ekiti thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for purchasing the equipment and for deploying them to areas needing attention.

While condemning those dumping refuse on river channels, the residents urged government to be strict with environmental law enforcement.

They urged the government to intensify efforts to prevent flooding in the state.
