Eko DisCo to expand power supply lines to improve service delivery
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) is planning to add electricity supply lines in parts of its network to improve service delivery even as allocation from the grid system deteriorates.
The DisCo revealed this during an engagement session with residents of Festac Town, Satellite Town, Kirikiri Town, and Agboju areas in Lagos to dialogue on the issues affecting power supply.
The meeting took place in Festac Town with many Community Development Area, CDAs’ executives and customers under the Festac business district of the distribution company were in attendance.
In an official statement by the Disco’s Corporate Communications General Manager, Godwin Idemudia, the forum was a continuation of the extensive engagement of customers and stakeholders across the EKEDC network to identify challenges affecting electricity supply under each district.
He reported that the MD/CEO of Eko Disco, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, was represented at the meeting by the Chief Commercial Officer, Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, accompanied by the General Manager of Technical Services, Engr. Oluwafemi Olaoye and Head of Network Maintenance, Engr. Okpo Onyekwere.
According to Idemudia, Mrs. Momoh appreciated the customers for their support as she promised to ensure prompt resolution of complaints brought to the fore at the forum.
She emphasised to the customers the need to curb vandalism and illegal connections as these do not only affect supply but also pose a risk and hazard to lives and properties.
However, the Chief Commercial Officer assured the customers that EKEDC is planning to add an additional line to supply the Festac environs and improve its turnaround time on complaints concerning faults.
Idemudia also mentioned that the General Manager of Technical Services, Engr. Oluwafemi Olaoye indicated at the forum that Eko DisCo does not encourage the purchase of distribution transformers and other electrical equipment by customers.
Idemudia concluded that Eko DisCo will continue to demonstrate its customer-centric stance by providing more effective ways to serve them better. “Prior to our meeting in Festac, we have engaged our customers in Ijora, Ojo, Mushin, Ajah and Ibeju districts, and we are also going to organise such a forum with the other districts in due time,” he added.
