By Sodiq Adelakun

The Eko Boys High School Old Boys Association has encouraged the students to seek counsel and funding from the EKORIANS if need be.

Speaking at Rev. Benjamin Euba lecture held as art of activities to celebrate the schools 110th founders day, National President of EKOBA, Mr Kayode Elliot, encouraged the students to look up to the old boys and be free to seek counsel and support from them.

He also called on the old boys across the world to support the school.

“The students can see how this school has made us who we are today and if they also maintain the discipline they will attain the height they want for themselves. They should also look up to the old boys and if they need anything in terms of funding their career, they have the opportunity of reaching out to Ekorians.”

Guest Lecture, Minister of Works and Housing,  Mr Babatunde  Fashola, who spoke on “Religious tolerance: Panacea to peaceful coexistence in Nigeria- Rev. Euba/family example,” said Euba’s mindfulness for Nigeria’s peaceful coexistence was legendary.

He said, “It must be and remain with external credit that Rev. William Benjamin Euba and others like him store resources as sources of strength and richness. And that is why they opened their door to young men without discriminating. This has turned out generations of young men and women who have become a large army of adult, who has over religious and ethnic differences, to contribute to national good and national development.”

In his speech titled, ’Role of media in productive nationalism, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President, Mr Femi Adeshina, said, “The media houses have a role to play in inculcating and sustaining productive nationalism in the country.

“They need an awakening to that as opposed to rapid opposition. A lot of people think that if they are rapidly opposed to any government that necessarily means the government of the day is not doing well. They think it is when they are anti-government that is when it is nationalism.”
