Ekiti: Tears as toddler slips into soakaway in search of lost ball

Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital as a five-old-young boy was found dead inside a soak away in the early hours of Monday.

Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that the incident happened at Adeparusi area of the state capital when the five year old boy was trying to pick his ball hanging on one of the planks used to cover the soak away.

According to eye witnesses, “While attempting to pick the ball and without having knowledge of the condition of the planks fell inside the sewage.

Nigerian NewsDirect reports that, it took hours before his body was recovered from the pit but it was too late as he had passed on.

Residents of the area, described the incident as unfortunate, while condoling with parents of the deceased.

Those residents who spoke with Nigerian NewsDirect cautioned parents to monitor their children against such bad occurrence and urged anyone making soakaway to ensure proper cover to make it safe for anyone passing by.
