Ekiti state executive council approves N4.15b for the execution of projects
The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a total of N4.15 billion for various projects, including road rehabilitation, the renovation of the House of Assembly complex, agricultural development, and the construction of hostels.
Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, announced the approvals from August 26 in a statement released on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Olatunbosun reported that the SEC approved N2.71 billion for a contract with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation to rehabilitate the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti. This roadwork aims to reduce traffic congestion between Adebayo and Ekiti State University, boost local economic activities, and improve safety and living conditions for residents along the route. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Additionally, N701 million was allocated for the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission building. ClemCharles Nigeria Limited has been awarded this contract, which is set to modernize these facilities and improve their functionality for legislative and administrative use. This project is expected to be finished in 12 weeks.
The SEC also approved N229 million for the procurement of agricultural equipment, including three 75HP tractors, three Fieldking 3 Disc Ploughs, one Fieldking 22 Disc Harrow, and two Fieldking Ridger 2 Rows. This investment, awarded to AGCOMS International Trading Limited, is intended to support the Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration’s commitment to enhancing the agriculture sector by empowering farmers and increasing production. The procurement is expected to be completed in four weeks.
Moreover, N177.9 million has been approved as a partial payment for clearing 325 hectares of land for young farmers from Ikere, Emure, Moba, Ido-Osi, and Ekiti West Local Governments. This initiative supports the ‘Youths in Agriculture’ program aimed at empowering local farmers.
Finally, the SEC ratified a N329.4 million contract for the construction of a 100-bed hostel at Command Secondary School in Isan Ekiti. This project, which is expected to be completed in 12 weeks, will provide full boarding facilities to support the school’s academic activities and facilitate resumption. This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigeria Army to enhance the school’s infrastructure.
