Ekiti PDP recommends expulsion of Fayose over anti-party activities
The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially recommended the expulsion of former Governor Ayodele Fayose for allegedly undermining the party’s interests.
This decision follows Fayose’s public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji from the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has sparked outrage among party officials.
At a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti, PDP Caretaker Chairman Dare Adeleke stated that Fayose’s actions, including his recent comments on a television program claiming that “PDP is dead in Ekiti State,” warrant disciplinary action. “Our position is that Ayodele Fayose must be expelled from the party,” Adeleke emphasised, noting that the recommendation has been submitted to the Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Panel.
Fayose’s endorsement of Oyebanji, made during the inauguration of a road and electrification project, included praise for the governor’s performance.
“I am very proud of you. You have done well,” Fayose stated, further asserting his support for Oyebanji’s re-election.
Adeleke condemned these remarks, stating, “Fayose is not a member of PDP anymore. His loyalty lies with Oyebanji.”
He accused Fayose of seeking personal gain and misleading the public about the party’s true values.
The Caretaker Chairman lamented the state of Ekiti under Oyebanji’s administration, claiming a “glaring lack of progress” in critical sectors such as infrastructure, health, and education.
”We must confront the reality of the past two years under the present administration,” he asserted.
Adeleke called for unity within the party, urging members to remain focused on rebuilding the PDP in Ekiti. “Together, we can achieve a renewed and vibrant PDP that serves the people of Ekiti with integrity and purpose,” he concluded, as the party braces for upcoming elections.
