Ekiti NSCDC test runs new security alert system unveiled by FG

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command has sensitized its Divisional  and Intelligence Officers from all the 16 Local Government in the State on the security software Application put together by the Federal Government known as Nigeria Internal SecuritRoundoff Safety Alert System.

Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that the system is a modern methodology of fighting crime using modern technology.

According to findings, the trigger application will make use of communication links to read and interpret data from endangered populace.

“NSCDC, Immigration Service, Fire service as well as Nigeria Police and others are expected to be Rescue/ Response Agencies, while the members of the public, associations and other stakeholders are expected to participate actively in the cyber- powered security/safety alert system.

“Telecommunication companies like MTN, GLO, AIRTEL and 9MOBILE are the carriers of this application which will make all the country reachable to the nearest rescue Agency contrary to the former system in which response time was disastrous.

The Emergency App system has buttons to trigger alerts to different Response Agencies along aspect of security and safety. Thus, it has segments for Road Crime Control System, Fire, Medical, Accident, Fraud control, Address verification etc. or simply by the press of the Power button of the handset three times.

It was also gathered that, “Transport Unions and other affiliated unions are involved for easy tracking of vehicle plying on routes across the country with the capacity from NISPSAS control room to trace and track any vehicle moving from a particular location to the other and to quickly link drivers if there is any challenge or obstacle on the road and to improve on passenger security.

Nigeria Internal Security and Public Alert Safety System (NISPSAS) has gathered location data for motor parks, Schools, PGC operators, and Transport Unions members.

The situation rooms in the Ministry of Interior and also in the NSCDC National Headquarters has encapsulated all the alert systems into one in which signals will be sent for response to nearby Agencies or Agency in real time; while the Response Agency is expected to respond swiftly to any sting signal sent to them.

In a chat with Nigerian NewsDirect during the workshop, the State Commandant of NSCDC Mr. John Olatunde Fayemi enjoined the Divisional Officers to transfer the knowledge gained during the programme to their respective Local Governments so as to make sure that all local hunters, Vigilantes, PGC guards are incorporated into the system for easy coverage of their environment in the new security alert system.
