Management of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ekiti State has sought the support of journalists in the propagation of the activities of the agency in the state, Nigerian NewsDirect reports.
The new Director of the Agency, Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa made the plea when she led other management team of the agency on a courtesy visit to the executive committee members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council.
Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa who is the first female Director to attain such exalted position since the existence of the Agency in Ekiti State, explained that the media remains a veritable platform which the agency needs to achieve its primary objective of creating awareness about government policies and programmes.
According to her, the agency is currently gathering data on homegrown feeding programme and would soon begin voter education which she said require the collaboration of journalists to reach out to the larger society.
She commended NUJ Chairman, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela for repositioning the Union and making it vibrant with a promise to also render her support towards the growth of the union being a staunch member.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comr. Rotimi Ojomoyela restated the commitment of the union to partner and support the agency towards achieving its mandates.
Comr. Ojomoyela described NOA as one of the vibrant chapels under the union, adding that plans were on to push a member of the chapel to the national level.
