Ekiti LG boss warns residents against storing fuel at home

The Chairman of Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti, Mr Sunday Ajimoko, on Thursday warned residents to desist from storing fuel in their houses.
Ajimoko gave the warning during an interview with the newsmen in Oye-Ekiti.
He said that inspite of the current fuel scarcity, individuals and residents should not hoard the product by keeping it in their homes.
The chairman noted that the dry season had started, adding that, it was not friendly with the product.
Ajimoko advised commercial drivers, motorists and private car owners to always store fuel in their vehicles and motorcycles instead of keeping it in their rooms, stores and houses.
” I am aware that fuel scarcity is currently prevalent in Ekiti and other states of the federation but we must be aware of the danger of keeping petrol in our houses.
” It is very dangerous to store the product in our houses because it is highly inflammable and can render an individual homeless.
“We don’t want to record fire disaster or any loss of life, as a result of carelessness of our people in any part of the town before the end of 2022.
“It is in view of this repercussion that I want to strongly warn residents and Indigenes of Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti to desist from keeping petrol in their various houses for their own safety,” he said.
