By Mike Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti

The Ekiti South Agenda 2022, has continued its agitation for the next governor of the state to come from the South Senatorial District of the state.

This came to the fore as the body held a peaceful protest held at lkere-Ekiti to press home their demands.

It was a reflection of a new twist to agitate for the next governor in Ekiti to come from the southern part of the state as the agitators carried placards of different insriptions to convince Ekiti people that they are clamouring for a just cause.

Protesters were emphatical to state that since the creation of the state 24 years ago, only the North and the central senatorial district have been producing Governor, saying their calls are based on the principle of fairness, equity and political justice saying the southern parts have competent individuals who can lead an all inclusive team from all political zones of the state to form a government around them in a credible cabinet.

The south Agenda 2022 body which spoke through its coordinator, Mr Idowu Afuye affirmed that if zoning matters as it has affected the Northern and central senatorial district, political parties and all and Sundry should rally round the Ekiti south to produce the next Governor of the state.

According to Afuye, “We have many sons and daughters that can lead the state, we are tired of being treated like a second fiddle, we also want to offer services to the state, we deserve a chance in the interest of fairness and justice.”

Mr. Afuye who said that any attempt to marginalize people of the southern district would be rejected, calling on traditional rulers in Ekiti to throw their weight behind the agitation for a Governor from the south adding that Governorship aspirants in the South Senatorial district should form a synergy by producing one person that would be rallied round by all so as to fight for the course in one voice.
