The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has assured Lagos residents that its officials would man their duty posts to manage and control traffic before, during and after the Eid-el Fitr celebration.

Its General Manager, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, made this known in a statement by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, in Lagos on Thursday.
While felicitating with Muslims in the state, the statement cautioned motorists not to exceed speed limits.

It cautioned drivers against wrongful overtaking, lanes violation, road obstruction, over-loading and driving against traffic.

“I call on Muslims to imbibe and practice the virtue of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self denial, sacrifice and good neighbourliness, as exemplified by Prophet Mohammad.

“I pray that residents will have a joyful celebration.

“LASTMA has commenced some public enlightenment programmes at motor parks for drivers. We want them to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.

“We also want passengers to know their rights by cautioning drivers when they are speeding or trying to maneuver in an attempt to drive against traffic.

“I enjoin members of the public, particularly the motoring public, to inform LASTMA of any road obstruction, gridlocks, crashes or other emergency-related matters,” the statement quoted Oreagba as saying.

The LASTMA boss issued emergency numbers to include 08100565860, 08129928597, 08129928503 and 08174722227.
