Efficiency: Sanwo-Olu goes tough, vows to personally monitor new Perm Secretaries’ performances

Harping on the necessity for efficiency, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu upon swearing-in 11 new Permanent Secretaries within the Structure of the State Civil Service, has charged the civil servants to be responsive to duties, vowing to personally monitor their performances.

This, he said, was required to ensure they provide the required and expected service for the respective ministries and agencies of their posts.

At the swearing-in ceremony of the new Permanent Secretaries held at the State House, Ikeja, on Friday, the Governor, who personally interviewed and screened over 20 selected Directors out of which 11 were appointed, said his administration is committed to the delivery of dividends of democracy and as such, charged the new appointees to deliver on mandates of their duties.

“The process of selecting you was rigorous and intensed. Our adminstration promotes competency. The appointment of these 11 Permanent Secretaries was a product of thoroughness. The role of Permanent Secretaries is fundamental to the success of any administration.

“This administration is committed to excellence and we believe we have appointed the best. I will personally monitor your performances individually. If you need assistance, you have access to me. Our course of delivering dividends of democracy is unshaken,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The State’s Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, told the new appointees to see their appointments as a call to do more, mentioning that ‘to whom much is given, much more is expected.’

The new Permanent Secretaries are Mr Osinaike Olusegun Olawale, TGPS District IV; Dr. Oyetola, Idowu Olufunke, TGPS District III; Oyegbola Olasunkanmi Mopileola, Public Service Office; and Dawodu, Kikelomo Arinola, Central Internal Audit.

Others are Toriola Abdulhafis Gbolahan, Ministry of Transport; Abidakun Olubusola Ajibola, Lagos State Teaching Service Commission; Aina Ololade Olasupo, Ministry of Home Affairs; Kasunmu Ibilola Olufolake, Ministry of Science and Technology; Sogunle Michael Olumide, Ministry of Information and Strategy; Sotire Oluwole Olumide, Ministry of Waterfront and Infrastructure; and Obajomo Ibrahim Amodu, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.

Governor Sanwo-Olu tasked them to use their wealth of experience to bring about reformative development to the state for the benefit of residents.

In a vote of assurance on behalf of all, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary Education District four, Olusegun Osinaike, promised that they would adhere strictly to the T.H.E.M.E.S developmental agenda and improve on it, to bring about more dividends of democracy to residents.

Moreover, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the redeployment of Mr. Kamar Olowosago from the Ministry of Transportation to Ministry of Housing; Ms Yinka Fashola from Science and Technology to Ministry of Wealth Creation; Mrs Adetutu Ososanya from Office of Central Internal Audit to Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives; Mrs Toyin Oke Osanyintolu is now the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, while Dr. Olugbenga Aina holds forth at the Parastatals Monitoring Office.

In a related development, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu inaugurated a five man standing tribunal of enquiry into chieftaincy matters in the State.

The tribunal to be chaired by Justice Owolabi Dabiri is to ensure peace and harmony in the processes and procedures of succession into traditional stools within and among communities in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that since its establishment since 2001, the Tribunal has handled over 50 Chieftaincy cases.
