EFCC seeks collaboration with Police in fighting crimes in Kwara
The Ilorin Zonal Commander, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Usman Muktar, says collaboration with the Police is key to fighting cybercrime and other economic and financial crimes in the state.
The zonal commander made the assertion on Friday in Ilorin, during a courtesy visit to the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Amienbo Assayomo.
Muktar said that the essence of the visit was to build on the existing cordial relationship between the police and the commission.
“Intelligence gathering and sharing among law enforcement agencies is key to the success of the fight against corruption,” he said.
The zonal commander said that as the new police commissioner had just arrived in the state, there was need for the visit to familiarise with him, with a view to strengthening relationship.
He described the role of the two agencies in tackling corruption as crucial and profound and called for more support and cooperation.
Responding, Assayomo appreciated the warm reception accorded him and expressed delight with the good working relationship between EFCC and the Nigeria Police Force.
The new commissioner of police gave the assurance that the synergy would be sustained.
He also commended the efforts of the commission in its arduous task of fighting cybercrime and other forms of corruption.
Assayomo promised that the command, under his watch, would provide necessary support and cooperation to the commission in tackling corruption and in other areas of its operation.
