EFCC, religious leaders team up against corruption
In a bid to strengthen the fight against corruption in Nigeria, the Executive Chairman of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede on April 16, appealed for diligence and godliness in the nation’s ongoing fight against corruption.
Olukoyede made the appeal during a gathering at the EFCC’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, while engaged in dialogue with Reverend Francis Obioha, Founder and Chaplain of Voice of God Chaplaincy, who paid him a courtesy visit. The discussion centered on the vital role of religious leaders in promoting ethical conduct and combating economic and financial crimes.
Olukoyede underscored the transformative power of religious teachings, urging clerics to lead by example and champion righteousness in their communities.
“Fighting corruption is a calling,” he declared, emphasising the shared mission between the EFCC and religious institutions. He called for a collective commitment to upholding integrity and accountability in all endeavors, asserting that “righteousness exalts a nation.”
In response, Reverend Obioha expressed admiration for Olukoyede’s dedication to public service and conveyed his unwavering support for the EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts. He lauded the establishment of Christian chapels within law enforcement agencies and pledged to continue spreading the gospel of integrity and moral uprightness.
The collaboration between the EFCC and religious leaders signals a unified front in Nigeria’s quest for transparency and ethical governance.
As the nation grapples with the scourge of corruption, Olukoyede’s impassioned call for diligence and godliness serves as a rallying cry for all citizens to uphold the highest standards of integrity and righteousness.
