Edo Police parade travel agent for allegedly defrauding client N11m

Operatives of Edo State Police Command have arrested a travel agent for allegedly defrauding his client, the sum of N11 million.

The suspect identified as David Ibiso was said to have presented himself to the victim as a medical doctor and a registered traveler in early 2023.

The client, Josephine Egharevba reportedly engaged the suspect services to facilitate her travelling to the United States of America.

The suspect was among the other 13 suspected cultists, drug peddlers and fraudsters paraded before journalists on Tuesday by the Command.

The client said the agent made several financial demands for the purported processing of traveling documents which she obliged, adding that, “I made a financial commitment to the tune of N11 million.”

“And when he (suspect) was no longer responding to my enquiries, I lodged a complaint to the police.

“He (suspect), was tracked down in Abuja, arrested and brought to Benin City, Edo State,” the victim said.

The State Police spokesman, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor who briefed journalists said the harvest of suspects was In furtherance to the Command’s commitments in making Edo State peaceful.

In an interview with journalists, the travel agent who admitted to the crime said he was a third party agent.
