Edo: Police arrest three suspects during cult meeting

The Edo Police Command have apprehended three suspected Aye cult members during a meeting meant for the Black Axe group at an uncompleted building in Ogbe quarters, Benin City Area of the State.

The suspects identified as Nnamdi Mbanusi, Ehis Albert, and Obazee Ogbe were arrested early this month by the anti-cultism team of the command, and six live cartridges were recovered from the spot.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, who said that the raid of the meeting venue was facilitated by the intelligence report gotten by the operatives.

Ozigi said only three suspects were  nabbed, while the remaining members of the confraternity fled from the scene upon seeing the cops. He also noted that a probe has begun into the case.

“On 10/11/2024 at about 1120hrs, based on credible intelligence, Operatives of Anti-Cultism Unit arrested the trio of Nnamdi Mbanusi 43yrs, Ehis Albert 38yrs and Obazee Ogbe 39yrs, who were holding cult related meeting at an uncompleted building in Ogbe quarters, Benin City

“On the spot search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of six (6) live cartridges while other members of the deadly cult group escaped. The suspects confessed to be members of the proscribed Aye confraternity, also known as Black Axe. Investigation is ongoing.”
