Edo: Police arrest 4 robbers in military uniform

The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers disguised in military uniform.

The Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects attacked and robbed a woman of her money and other valuables in Benin.

They were arrested by intelligence officers following a report by the victim Grace Ainabe, whose residence was invaded.

The suspects are Iyabo Victor, 35 (the leader), Osas Aganmwonyi 28, Nosa Owie, 24, and Idi Etukudo.

They wore military uniforms, and armed with guns, broke into the victim’s house in Teboga community, carting away money, phones and jewelry.

Grace narrated how they entered her house through the POP ceiling, robbed the family of their belongings and transferred N447,000.

“They collected her phone and forcefully obtained her secret code number for them to have access to her bank detail,” Nwabuzor said.

The police found that after the transfer, the suspects changed the money to foreign currency and shared it.

Items recovered from them include Iphone13 worth N500,000, IPhone 6 worth N48,000 and jewelry worth N850,000.

Others include a standing fan worth N95,000, an LG split Air Conditioner worth N360,000, washing machine, inverter battery, accessories, gas cylinders, among others.
