Couples and singles have been advised to embark on financial planning based on well stated and clear objectives to promote healthy love relationships. This was the view of experts at the hybrid talk show jointly organized by EDC Securities Limited and EDC Fund Management, both members of Ecobank Group to celebrate their existing and potential customers. The Show tagged: ‘Love is an investment’ took place at the Ecobank Pan Africa Centre (EPAC), Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos on Valentine Day.
Guest Speakers which include Mr Debo Omotunde, a clergy, consultant, coach and Mrs. Awele Chiedu, Chief Financial Officer, Emval Nigeria Limited, addressed pertinent issues ranging from joint account, family budget, handling economic shock, family investment, financial management, single parenting, finances and money personality, among others. They submitted that being financially empowered is about using money as a tool to enhance one’s life which also include spousal relationships.
Earlier, Mr. Marcus Olayinka Oladapo, Managing Director, EDC Securities Limited (A member of The Ecobank Group) said the season presented an opportunity for EDC to celebrate its customers for their commitment and patronage over the years, stressing that the show was targeted at addressing financial issues that couples and lovers experience while they build their bond, relationship, and union.
He observed that, “Oftentimes, couples have had to pull the plug on their relationships and marital unions because they can’t seem to find a common ground when it comes to managing their finances together.”
In addition, Mr Marcus also stated that in a bid to promote financial inclusion, free financial planning sessions are organised by both businesses and are available for individuals and organisations and sessions just need to be booked to access it.
In his opening address, Mr. Biyi Olagbami, Executive Director/Chief Risk Officer, Ecobank Nigeria, said Valentine is a season of love and sharing, adding that the talk show was one of the ways the organisations decided to use in expressing love to its customers. He advised the participants to put to good use what they learn from the program.
