Ecobank Group has been named the Best Trade Finance Provider Bank in Africa at the Global Finance Trade Finance & Supply Chain Finance Awards 2025.
Additionally, the bank’s subsidiaries in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Rwanda have been recognised as the leading trade finance providers in their respective markets.
Michael Larbie, Group Executive, Corporate and Investment Banking, commented on the achievement, stating: “We are dedicated to delivering an extensive range of trade finance solutions and exceptional trade services to our clients, taking full advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area’s unified market.
“This commitment is demonstrated by our groundbreaking ‘Ecobank Single Market Trade Hub,’ which digitally links buyers and suppliers across Africa, offering seamless access to our broad portfolio of trade finance products and services.
“At Ecobank, we are unwavering in our mission to be the preferred bank for Africans and their businesses, reinforcing our steadfast dedication to building a stronger Africa.”
Ecobank provides an extensive suite of trade solutions, leveraging diverse payment methods to facilitate both domestic and cross-border trade within its expansive network across 35 sub-Saharan African countries.
The bank offers tailored intra-African trade solutions, allowing customers to conduct both local and international trade transactions seamlessly while mitigating payment risks.
Furthermore, Ecobank collaborates closely with its clients to assess key aspects of transaction processing, including settlement, financing, risk mitigation, credit enhancement, and compliance with relevant exchange control regulations. Its trade finance products and services are structured around three core areas: structured trade and commodity finance, trade services, and supply chain finance.
The Global Finance award panel selected Ecobank based on evaluations from industry analysts, corporate executives, and technology specialists, considering both objective and subjective factors. These included transaction volume, global reach, customer service quality, competitive pricing, risk management strategies, and innovative financial solutions.
Ecobank received its trophies at the awards ceremony held during the BAFT Europe Bank-To-Bank Forum in Amsterdam on 12 March 2025.
