Ebonyi govt pledges commitment to promoting digital learning for children

The Ebonyi Government on Thursday, said it was committed to promoting quality and digital learning for children in the state describing them as “best gift” to the society.

Dr Onyebuchi Chima, state Commissioner for Education told journalists in Abakaliki that child education is one of the major priorities of the Gov. David Umahi’s administration.

Chima commended the 2021 Children’s Day celebration and achievement made on education of the children in the state, through a radio programme during the COVID-19 lockdown.

According to him, “We provide for children and ensure their welfare; promoting quality education, through radio programme to ensure that we continue to teach our children during the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We shall continue to promote digital learning; this year’s  Children’s Day celebration is in a low key not only in Ebonyi but globally because of the COVID-19.

“There is ongoing school sports competition in the state aimed at children in primary and secondary schools.

“The local government elimination has ended and we are rounding up the zonal elimination today, May 27 in honour of our children.

“We celebrate the children’s day today with the final competitions of the zonal elimination of the 2021 Umahi’s School Sports Competition,” he stated.

Chima explained that sporting activity was not just a purpose of doing exercise in school but a career path.
