Easter: Osun Speaker urges Christians to pray for nation’s peace
Mr Timothy Owoeye , the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, has urged Christians to explore the spiritual opportunity derived from Easter to pray for the peace and stability of the country.
Owoeye, in a statement by his Media aide, Kunle Alabi, on Sunday in Osogbo, congratulated Christians for another successful 40 days Lenten fast, which climaxed the Easter celebration.
The speaker said that with the prayers offered during the Lenten season and Easter celebration, Nigeria would soon overcome her challenges.
According to him, irrespective of the various challenges facing the country, Nigerians must use every available opportunity to seek the face of God for peace to reign.
Owoeye stated that what the country needed at this time was intercessory prayers for God to continuously stabilise the country.
The speaker urged Christians and people of other faiths to supplicate and to assist the country in critical areas of needs such as security, job creation and the fight against corruption.
“I want to call on my good people of Osun and Nigeria to explore the spiritual opportunity of this period to continue to pray for peace to reign in our dear state and country.
“The season therefore offers us all the opportunity to pray for a new Nigeria where citizens are well secured and living life abundantly, a situation of new beginning for our country to regain her lost glory.
“Events of the past few years, particularly the spate of insecurity in the land, leave much to be desired.
“I want to call on Christians and every Nigerian to pray for the leaders of this nation, because Easter celebration should be used to renew love for one another.” Owoeye said
