Easter: NSCDC deploys 1,200 personnel to strengthen security in Osun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State command has deployed 1,200 personnel to strengthen security in the state before, during and after the Easter celebration.

The NSCDC command made this known in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, ASCII Atanda Olabisi, in Osogbo on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Emmanuel Ocheja, said the command has put in place robust security arrangements and crime prevention strategies to ensure crime free Easter festivities in the state.

Ocheja further said that the men of NSCDC are already emplaced on the major roads across the state, patrol teams and surveillance squads will provide security at public places and recreation centers throughout the period of the celebrations.

He therefore, appealed to  members of the public to be moderate in their celebration, saying personnel will display a high level of professionalism while discharging their duties.

He assured the public that the personnel will be civil and polite but firm in ensuring security of lives and property.

Ocheja also called on members of the public to be security-conscious and provide useful information to the NSCDC.

He admonished the Christians across the state to imbibe the lessons of the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ocheja charged the Christians to propagate peace, demonstrate love and tolerance with fellow citizens, irrespective of religious affiliation.

He further called on unscrupulous elements in the state to have a change of mind as the command will arrest and prosecute whoever that is bent on frustrating the peace of the State.
