…as Sanwo-Olu meets delegates, discusses business partnership

The Dutch government of the Kingdom of Netherlands, has expressed its interest in partnering the Lagos State Government in its project THEMES agenda.
This intention was made known on Monday by a Dutch delegates in a meeting with the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
At the meeting, the delegates of the Dutch government discussed with the Governor, core areas of profitable business partnerships to achieve the project THEMES agenda of the Sanwo-Olu led administration.
Speaking at the meeting, the Consul General of the Dutch Embassy in Lagos, Jan Van Weijen, mentioned that the Dutch government is willing to partner with the State on entrepreneurship, energy, health, environment and transportation, among other key sectors in the State.
On transportation, he mentioned that Netherlands is looking into working on the development of water-ways transportation in the State.
According to him, the efficiency of the water-ways would alleviate the road congestion to address the problem of traffic in Lagos.
According to the Consul General the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, will be paying a follow-up visit to Lagos and Abuja in November to very much showcase the cooperation with Lagos “to some projects with regards to renewable energy, and also entrepreneurship.”
He stated that “With the excellent cooperation that we enjoy with your office and with other offices in Lagos, we will continue to cooperate with regards to traffic.
“We will also work very well together on the water-ways, where we could cooperate in the field of transportation, using Lagos Water-ways to alleviate the transport by roads.”
He added further, “There is some cooperation with regards to insurance, environment, health, education, Lagos city for the next millennia.
“Following the THEMES of Lagos, we have excellent opportunities to cooperate and to see whether that business can get involved in the ever growing metropolis of Lagos and to cooperate with you to achieve the goals you have set for this wonderful sitting.”
Receiving the team at his office in the State House, Sanwo-Olu extended hands of fellowship to partner with the Dutch government, stressing that the State is opened to business cooperation.
He stated further that the State is open to corrective conversations to make Lagos a true mega-city.
In his words he said “I’m sure you know Lagos and Amsterdam of Netherlands have a lot in common where both cities are below the sea level. It’s also not out of place for us as a big city also in Nigeria and Africa to learn a bit because of our commonality of how nature has endowed us. Those opportunities are available.
“We can advance this conversation. What we need to do now is to enhance and take these to a higher level and fast-track those engagements very quickly.
“We are open for business, we are open to have a corrective conversation around Lagos and make it truly really a great and mega city of status.”
He added that the State Government would constitute a team on its part to collaborate with a Dutch constituted team to advance the conversation all around.
Moreover, he called on the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Netherlands to identify the specific sectors of interest the Dutch government would be willing to partner with the State for concrete considerations.
Furthermore, It has been gathered that the meeting with the Dutch delegates is one among other intending business meetings with delegates from other parts of the world interested in partnering Lagos State.
