Dutch airline KLM suspends most flight operations

Dutch airline KLM has announced that a widespread global computer outage has rendered “flight handling impossible,” leading to a substantial suspension of its operations. The airline stated, “KLM, along with other airlines and airports worldwide, has been affected by a global computer outage, which has severely hindered our ability to manage flights.”

Acknowledging the significant inconvenience caused during the peak summer holiday season, KLM emphasized ongoing efforts to rectify the issue, stating, “We are diligently working towards a resolution. Meanwhile, we regretfully must largely suspend our operations.”

In the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented flight stoppages for major carriers United, American, and Delta. Similarly, German airports including Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne-Bonn, and Nuremberg have reported varying degrees of service disruptions due to IT problems.
