The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted claims that it raided the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters in Abuja.
On Thursday, the security agency used its X social media account to address reports alleging that its personnel conducted a raid on the NLC office, known as Labour House, on Wednesday evening. The DSS stated, “Please be advised that the Service (DSS) did not carry out any operation at the NLC office in Abuja.”
Reports that heavily armed individuals, suspected to be DSS agents, had stormed Labour House on Wednesday evening. They reportedly broke into several offices and seized books and files, claiming these materials were used to organize and incite the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
The NLC’s National Executive Council (NEC) had earlier demanded a reversal of what it described as “ill-conceived policies” leading to the current economic crisis. The NEC, led by President Comrade Joe Ajaero and General Secretary Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, urged the government to implement policies prioritizing public welfare, job creation, and equitable resource distribution. They instructed workers nationwide to protect themselves and continue their non-violent protests.
