DPR seals Fatgbems filling station over alleged sharp practices

The Department of Petroleum Resources has sealed Fatgbems filling station over alleged sharp practice.

In a statement issued by Head of Communication Department of Petroleum Resource Mr Paul Osu a copy of which was made available to Nigeria NewsDirect.

He said, “We have sealed the station and  investigation  of the incident is ongoing and will update on conclusion.”

Earlier,  several  media outfits had  reported a two minutes video clip of a fuel dispensing outlet owned by Fatgbems, sold water to motorists as petrol in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Sunday. This had sparked  outrage from motorists at the scene of the incident and from social media users.

Reacting to the incident and highlighting effort put in place by Fatgbems to curb the effect.

The Brand and Communications Manager Fatgbems Petroleum Company Limited, Adeosun Azeez apologised, and stated that rain water seeped into one of the station’s storage tanks.

“The said incident was a result of an overflow of water into one of the station storage tanks due to the recent rainfall.

“It is not in our culture to dispense low-quality products to our customers, as the said incident was a natural occurrence that was beyond our control.”

“Our technicians are currently attending to the affected vehicles of customers.

“Once again, we sincerely apologise for all the inconvenience that the incident might have caused, we are saddened by this and hereby reaffirm our commitment to exceptional service delivery at all times.”

He further revealed the frantic effort put in place by his organization to caution the possible untold effect the incident might have brought on their customers.

He said, “Since yesterday, one of the things we have done is to make sure that will took care of the customers that were affected. Repair their cars and even as we speak we are still contacting them to make sure they are in order and we have also make plan to make sure we keep calling them for the rest of the week so as to ensure no issue came upon the car.

“We will have our technical team come on board to ensure that it not occur again. The error is that particular storage tank.”
