Dore editing: Businessman docked for allegedly swindling client of N3m

A Businessman , Gabriel Sani was on Tuesday docked in a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly swindling client on the sum of N3 million.

The police charged the defendant, 49, of Kurudu Area of the FCT, Abuja with Criminal Breach of Trust and Cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Olanrewaju Osho told the court that sometimes in Dec.29, 2022, the complainant said he paid the sum of N3 million to the defendant for procurement of diesel which was to be supplied.

Osho said that when the complainant demanded for the job order, the defendant did not give it to him as promised instead he converted the sum of N3 million to his personal use.

The prosecutor said during police investigation, the defendant confessed to the offence.

He said the matter was reported Asokoro Police Station by Musa Yahaya of No 42, Mamman Nasir Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Umar Mayana granted the defendant bail of N200,000 with two sureties with valid I.D cards, statements of accounts and must live within court jurisdiction.

The Judge ordered that the sureties’ addresses must be verified by the court officer and the police officer.

Mayana said a deposit the sum of N500, 000 must be made to the court as security bail for the defendant.

Mayana therefore adjourned the case until Feb. 10 for ruling.
