Former Provost, College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Prof. Kayode Ijadunola, has admonished Federal Government and stakeholders to prioritise empowerment programme for youths across the country.
Ijadunola gave the advice during the Grand Launch of ‘Star to Stardom (S2S) Empowerment Initiative’, at ICT Main Conference Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), on Tuesday, in Ile-Ife.
He emphasised on the necessity of the three tiers of government, NGOs, philantorpists, stakeholders, groups and individuals to empower the less privileged for them to live a meaningful life.
Also, Mr Victor Adebayo, the Founder, Diversity Talent Management Limited, Lagos, who doubles as the Guest Speaker of the event, commended the NGO for making it fit to assist the needy during this period
Adebayo said that the nation would have been the best, if people like Omopariola utilised their resources to care for the less privilege.
He added that the initiative would go a long way in the life of the generality and would reduce the rate of criminology in the society.
Also, the Director, Star to Stardom, Mr Daniel Omopariola, said that the programme comes in a rightful time that people are in need of it.
However, Omopariola said that government alone cannot do it, but meaning Nigerians should rise up to contribute their quota to the progress of humanity.
According to him, ” The beneficiary learnt computer programming, cosmetology, catering, fashion design, graphic design, printing and press and photography for four weeks.
” Many people are suffering and not find life easy even some have lost all their hopes, thinking that something good cannot come out of the country again.”
He assured that with little effort of Star to Stardom acquisition skills for masses, poverty would be totally eradicated.
The Director appealed to them to be loyal in whatever they do in life and try to emulate Star to Stardom foundation to assist the needy.
One of the beneficiary, Miss Ajayi Taiwo, appaluded Star to Stardom Foundation for being the hope for the hopeless.
