Do not despair – Labour Party advises members in Akwa Ibom
By Dennis Udo-Udoma, Uyo
The Labour Party supporters in Akwa Ibom have been advised to remain calm as the party is weighing option of legal redress.
Director General of Peter Obi/Datti campaign organization, Captain Augustine Okon handed down the counsel to members at a joint press conference with some members of the civil society groups in Uyo on Friday.
Okon, who thanked Nigerians for their support during last Saturday polls said, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi had already addressed the world on the last election but, they still felt to let the world know that, as much as they reject the rigging rascality and the blatant compromise of the electoral process by the PDP in Akwa Ibom should also be rejected.
According to him, “you are aware that, prior to the election, INEC had promised to upload all results to the IRev portal from units through BVAS but, without any explanation, INEC proceeded to manually collate and announce the results.
“This does not only give room for suspicion but eventually shows a grand gang up to not just suppress the will of the people but impose unpopular candidate on Nigerians through flawed process”.
He said, the presidential campaign council in Akwa Ibom demands INEC to produce original results which shows Peter Obi wining the election with majority votes with the required spread.
The DG however declared that, they have amazed enough evidence to prove that Obi won the election in Akwa Ibom and assured the council would do its best to recover the stolen mandate.
He encouraged the supporters not to be despaired, for in due course, their wish and desires for New Nigeria would be possible.
