The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude Tegboosun 111 has tasked the Federal Government to consider devolution of power between the Federal Government and 36 states in the country to strengthen internal security.
This was just as the monarch noted the need for diversion of power and restructuring on the path of regional integration to boost the socio-economic development of each region.
Oba Tegboosun 111 disclosed this while granting audience to the Osun state government Civic engagement team led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Civic engagement Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintinloye in his palace.
The Monarch maintained that if granted, it will ensure State autonomy in areas of security and health which remain key in governance.
Oba Oyelude added that Nigeria is a country blessed with immense human and mineral resources but its development has been hindered due to its system of government adopted over the years where power is domiciled at Federal instead of States.
The Olowu maintained that if the request is looked into, state governors will have the strength to overcome insecurity in more proactive ways to curb various forms of insecurities the nation is faced with.
Speaking on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration, Oba Oyelude lauded his political zeal and resilience in ensuring that dividends of democracy get to the nooks and crannies of the State.
He said the state government has spread infrastructure across the three senatorial districts of the State adding that the Ola Iya flyover will not only beautify the state capital but also testify to his readiness in changing the narratives of governance.
He admonished citizens of the state to take ownership of government infrastructure at their various communities adding that those projects are collectively owned by the citizens of the State.
