Delta Govt. arranges classrooms for students in displaced flood victims’ camps

The Delta Government has set up classrooms for students in the camps of displaced flood victims to ensure uninterrupted education scheme of work and curriculum.

The state’s Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, stated this in a statement on Friday in Asaba.

Ezewu said: “Though, this year’s flood is overwhelming but the state government is making efforts to ensure that it does not affect the education of our children.

“The ministry has started teaching and learning activities in the camps to ensure that the children are not left behind and to ensure uninterrupted running of scheme of works and curriculum.

“I want to use this opportunity to restate the ministry’s determination to deliver on the educational policies and the agenda of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration,” she said.

Ezewu urged the students to concentrate on their studies and minimise unnecessary activities that would not bring the needed impact on their lives.

“I want you to see the flood issue as a natural disaster,’’ adding that its effects would have been minimal if the relevant stakeholders had been proactive enough in addressing the challenge.

She added that the state government was committed to ameliorating the plights of flood victims in the state.
