Otunba Babatunde Onakoya, founder of Debasco Political Group, has congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over their electoral victories as the democratically-elected Governors on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunals.
Governors Abiodun and Sanwo-Olu had their electoral victories upheld as second term Governors of Ogun and Lagos States, respectively in the March 18 Governorship Election by the Tribunals headed by Justice Hamidu Kunaza and Justice Mikhail Abdullah in Ogun and Lagos States.
Justice Kunaza-led Tribunal in Ogun State, on Saturday, declared that the testimonies of the 94 witnesses brought by the PDP against APC as being “industrially manufactured, mechanically produced and adopted, contrary to the common occurrence of natural causes” and thereby “proven to be similar, too coincindental and unbelievable to rely on” in determining the petitions.
About two weeks ago in Lagos, Justice Abdullah-led Tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party, and Olajide Adeniran and the People’s Democratic Party, describing the exercise as futile and wasteful, saying the petitioners could not prove their allegations of mental incompetence against Sanwo-Olu in their evidence before the Tribunal.
Speaking on the electoral victories, Otunba Onakoya, the former Federal Board Member of Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, said that the judgments at both the State Tribunals were a reflection of the political popularity of APC and both Governors which prompted the APC to be declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and was affirmed by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunals in both States.
Otunba Onakoya, who is an APC Chieftain and founder of Debasco Political Group, said in as much as the two States are the major contributors to socio-economic growth and development of the Country as the nation’s economic nerve centre (Lagos State) and the Nigeria’s industrial headquarters (Ogun State), everybody – politicians, technocrats, investors and residents should support the Governments of the two States for socio-economic sustainability of the Country.
He however admonished the aggrieved members of the opposition parties to accept the political and legal scenarios as an Act of God and as being ordained by Almighty God, hence, “the lossers from the Opposition Parties should accept the God’s Decisions and wait for the 2027 to try their luck for better political outing in both Ogun and Lagos States.”
