Deaf Sports Federation appeals to corporate bodies on sponsorship
The Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) has appealed to corporate bodies and well-meaning Nigerians for sponsorship towards keeping its athletes fit.
Kamiludeen Banjo, Chief Coach, NDSF said this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.
The coach, while rolling out the programmes of the federation for 2021 added that corporate organisations needed to come to its aid by sponsoring its numerous programmes.
“We need sponsors; this is what can really help our athletes in the country.
“We want to make them feel they are part of the world,’’ he said.
Banjo disclosed that the federation plans to feature in the African qualifier for Deaflympics later in the year.
“We have African qualifier in Kenya which will hold between March and April.
“We have another qualifier in December in Brazil, those are the events that are on ground for now.
“We also have the West African Championship which might not hold because of COVID-19,’’ he said.
He noted that the athletes were all in high spirits preparing in different states for the qualifiers.
“The athletes are all preparing in their different states, because we do the final selection when we are about to leave for the competition, we then we put them together to train.
“At the moment these are the major events on ground for us,’’ he said.
