Day 7; Nigerians continue end bad governance protest

Thousands of Nigerians took to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday morning, continuing their nationwide protests against poor governance and economic hardship.

The Take-It-Back Movement shared tweets showing large crowds in both cities demanding government action on the country’s critical issues.

The protests, now in their seventh day, show no signs of diminishing as citizens persist in expressing their dissatisfaction with the current situation.

In Ibadan, demonstrators gathered in the Agbowo-UI area, while in Port Harcourt, they marched through major streets of the southeastern state.

TIB tweeted: “LIVE from Agbowo-UI, IBADAN. Day 7: Port Harcourt marching against bad governance #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”

Meanwhile, Amnesty International reported that over 1,000 Nigerians involved in the protests against worsening hunger and misgovernance are currently detained across the country. The organization criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its crackdown on peaceful protests instead of addressing the economic issues exacerbating hunger and distress.

Amnesty International noted that at least 632 protesters are held in Kano State, and over 109 in Sokoto prison custody, expressing concern over the mass arrests and urging a more constructive response to the protesters’ demands.
