Datti Ahmad’s death, huge loss to Nigeria, Muslim Ummah — Oyetola 

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has described the death of former presidential aspirant and President-General, Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, SCSN, Sheikh (Dr.) Ibrahim Datti Ahmad as a huge loss to the Muslim Ummah and the country as a whole.

Oyetola said this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, to commiserate with the Muslim community in Nigeria, Governor Umar Ganduje, government and people of Kano State where the late elder statesman and renowned medical practitioner hailed from.

The Governor who noted that he received news of the death of Sheikh Datti Ahmad with grief and sadness, said the deceased was an upright individual who led a life of service to God and humanity.

He added that the Islamic scholar and politician would forever be remembered for his sterling contributions to the growth of Islam in Nigeria and community service.

“I received the news of the demise of President-General, Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Sheikh (Dr) Ibrahim Datti Ahmad with grief and sadness. His passing is a huge loss to our nation particularly the Muslim Ummah.

“Sheikh Datti was an upright individual and a distinguished elder statesman who led a life of commitment and service to God and humanity. He will forever be remembered for his sterling contributions to the growth of Islam in Nigeria and promotion of community service.

“As a peace-loving man, he was always at the forefront of promoting love, religious freedom and tolerance, social justice, accountability and good governance. I pray Allah overlook his shortcomings, admit him into Aljana Firdaus and grant his family, associates and all those who mourn him the strength to bear his demise,” Governor Oyetola said.
