Dansadau Emirate express worry over rising spate of banditry

Residents of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have lamented that banditry activities have fully resurfaced in the axis.
Speaking with newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, Alhaji Nuhu Dansadau said that bandits had since last week Saturday been roaring like wounded lions, unleashing terror attacks on villages in the area.
According to him, most of the residents have deserted their villages to Gusau, the State capital and other safer places in the State, pointing out that people were not allowed to go about their normal businesses.
Dansadau lamented that since banditry activities started in the area in 2009, lamenting that, “since then, the government has been negotiating with the bandits but there has been no beneficial result to justistify the so-called peace accord and reconciliation with the bandits.”
He urged the government to give the military personnel and security operatives the power to use their professionalism and technicalities to deal with ruthlessly with the terrorists.
Also commenting on the spate of killings and kidnappings in the State, one Alhaji Ishiaku Mohammed wondered why the citizens should be living like refugees in their own State.
“It is glaring that what is happening in Zamfara State today has clearly indicated that the State is fast moving back to the long dark age,” he stated.
“How can one make peace with hardened criminals who are always blood thirsty. Any money given to them as a result of peace accord and reconciliation will be used in purchasing more sophisticated weapons to kill and abduct innocent citizens.
“If the military operatives and security personnel cannot eliminate these terrorists and insurgents, then how can Nigeria account for the salaries and allowances being paid to the military and security operatives on a monthly basis,” he queried.
Commenting also, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed said, “during his electioneering campaign in 2015, Mr. Buhari assured Nigerians that the security of lives and properties of the citizens would be his first priority but now insecurity has become worse than ever before and Nigerians are clapping for Buhari.”
