The general deployment of Customs officers across the nation seems to have reached Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area 1 Port Harcourt, with Comptroller Chedi Wada taking over from  Ibrahim Mohammed.

The  change of baton was done in a short ceremony Thursday at the Area 1, Port Harcourt office of the Customs Area Comptroller (CAC).

Giving his maiden speech after he has been handed over the flag as symbol of authority, the incoming Customs Area Comptroller, Chedi Wada thanked the outgoing Comptroller, assuring him that he will continue from where he stopped.

“Customs Service is a sweet job. We meet each other at every point in the course of our job.

“The secret of the job is that we must apply the knowledge and be good ambassador of the Service. Life  is all about relationship,” he said.

Wada urged officers to always seek knowledge because knowledge, he said, is power.

The new CAC, however, said that the only officers he cannot work with are the lazy and unprofessional ones.

“I only have problem with lazy and unprofessional officers. Such officers must change to be able to work with me,” Wada said.

He appealed that the cooperation given to his predecessor to also be accorded him.

He pointed out that NCS has its modus operandi which everyone must strive to comply with.

He wished Mohammed goodluck and success in his new station.

Earlier in his valedictory speech, the immediate past Comptroller, Ibrahim Mohammed  said during his tenure, he surpassed his target, therefore he is happy to leave without blemish.

He described the incoming Comptroller as an experienced officer and as such he does not expect anything less than good performance from him.
