Customers’ over deduction of funds, malfunctioning mobile, others in Zenith, UBA Bank
Complaints of commercial banks by customers have been a persistent occurrence in the banking sector. For over a week, there have been several unresolved complaints as customers stormed banks as a result of these problems.
Just right from the traditional walk-in procedure, a large number of customers had to wait in a queue for numbers before they could get access into the bank to make complaints with little or no assurance that solutions might be provided at the long wait.
Customers have complained of unnecessary deduction of funds or exorbitant charges, being logged out the bank’s mobile app for hours, initiation of transactions without customers’ approval or without proper explanations despite the Customer Protection Regulation, which protects customers from/against unfair and exploitative practices by Institutions in their dealings with the customers.
All these continue to undermine the confidence of customers as customers have sometimes gone physical with bank officials in the bid to make sure solutions are provided to their complaints.
With banks expected to have several channels of communication available for their customers’ complaints, solutions are sometimes not still provided on these channels and have been called out several times especially on social media.
Kynofficial took to social media to say “Zenith bank after a week service downtime,their mobile app is unusable, they logged everyone out since last week Tuesday.”

Morerinayo2 asked @ZenithBank why did you log me out of my app. It’s been three days and I’ve not been able to log back in. I’m not in Nigeria and I can’t walk into any of the branches. Nothing must happen to my money.

Orngu said @UBAGroup @UBACares UBA is the worst bank ever not to be trusted. My account was hacked April 15, 2022 UBA has refused to give me any information on the transaction done from my account. The bank is protecting the criminals @olusegunFawenda said Sincerely, I’m disappointed with the banking system in Nigeria. Zenith Bank Plc debited me a sum of N3,000 since May 7, 2022, but nothing yet has been done after several complaints to them.
