CSO applauds KANSIEC on conduct of LG polls

The Kano Civil Society election situation room has submitted its election report to the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), giving a thumbs up to the credibility of the polls.

Led by Ibrahim Waiya of Citizens For Development and Education (CDE), the group praised the impressive voter turnout and the election’s compliance with electoral guidelines.

Victor Kalu, speaking on behalf of the CSOs and CBOs, commended the state government and KANSIEC, particularly its chairman, Prof. Sani Malumfashi, for a successful and well-organised election.

Prof. Malumfashi, in turn, thanked the group for their contribution to the election’s success and encouraged them to continue promoting democracy in Nigeria.

This development follows the local government elections held on October 26, 2024, which were initially scheduled for November 30 but rescheduled due to a Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy.

The elections saw the participation of six political parties, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had earlier sent a list of seven commissioner nominees to the state assembly for confirmation.
