The Office of the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has carpeted the appointed state caretaker chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Akindele Adekunle, for his shameless effrontery to deride the iconic Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, which was inaugurated with fanfare by the Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu yesterday.
It would be recalled that the Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola constructed the iconic flyover at the popular Olaiya junction in Osogbo which had hitherto been causing traffic snarls with attendant loss of time by motorists and pedestrians alike.
It is on record that so many auto accidents had occurred at the spot with so many lives lost before the construction of the iconic flyover which is at the epicentre of the state capital.
Whatever happens to traffic gridlock at the Olaiya roundabout before the construction of the iconic flyover by Oyetola was always having a debilitating effect on the traffic flow in all the other parts of the state capital.
The state PDP katikati chairman whose legal existence had since expired in a press statement strangely described the iconic flyover as a mere “culvert” and substandard project which was not deserved to be inaugurated.
The embattled Senator Ademola Adeleke who plies the flyover almost on daily basis would always be full of praises to the ingenuity of Governor Oyetola for constructing the iconic bridge.
The Osun PDP katikati chairman should stop embarrassing the party and its hoard of members in the state as his constant needless outbursts have not been portraying the party as a serious one.
If Dr Akindele is a serious state party chairman, his major concern at this time should have been on how to find and replace his governorship’s Oluwole credentials submitted to the INEC with genuine certificates for his tender at the ongoing governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo on Monday.
Adekunle also took the Ondo State Governor Akeredolu to the cleaner, describing him as a failed governor.
The Osun State chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital yesterday, stated that it was a pity that the appointed PDP chairman could choose to be playing politics of hatred and bitterness with the recently-inaugurated iconic Olaiya Flyover with his use of his uncivilized, uncouth, crude and pedestrian approach to partisan politics.
Famodun pleaded with the friends, relations and well-wishers of the impostor Osun State PDP chairman to urgently come to his aid as his sense of judgement portrays him as someone in urgent need of help.
The Osun State APC chairman observed that for the controversial state PDP caretaker chairman to refuse to acknowledge the usefulness and beauty of the iconic Olaiya Flyover was an indication that he is either having a sight problem or he needs an effective pair of medicated glasses to enable him see properly without hinderance.
He stated further that it was pungent clear that Adekunle who was catapulted from Ondo State to head a political party like the PDP lacked proper and adequate knowledge of the suffering of the users of that spot where the flyover is built simply because he wasn’t living in the state.
The state APC boss cautioned Adekunle to keep his mouth permanently shut if he lacks wherewithal to appreciate the fact that the iconic Olaiya Flyover, apart from solving the problem of traffic bottleneck at that spot, has added to the aesthetic value of Osogbo as the state capital of Osun State.
Famodun stated that the PDP chairman’s unsuccessful attempt to shoot down the construction of the flyover which is one of the legacy projects of the ever-focused and visionary Governor Oyetola was an indication that he has no iota of stake in Osun State.
The APC chairman told the PDP chairman with the diarrhoea of the mouth with his mischievous co-travellers to swear if they have not been plying the flyover which fruitless attempt to discredit and labelled as a substandard project has fallen flat as the people of the state are not as myopic as he is.
It is however ludicrous and strange that the handpicked controversial Osun State PDP caretaker chairman could have the effrontery to describe Governor Akeredolu who has been making waves in his state as being a lazy governor.
If Dr Akindele who claims to hail from Ondo State is truly worth his salt as a capable and distinguished state party chairman, he should have put aside petty politics and dignify his state governor with honour instead of metaphorically waking him up from his sleep with leg kicks.
If Akindele could do that to his state governor, it means no one should be surprised at the constant diatribes and brickbats he has been throwing at Governor Oyetola in order to impress his employer at the Ede Country home.
Such description of Akeredolu and Oyetola by the controversial PDP caretaker chairman as being lazy was a political criticism taken too far by a power-intoxicated opportunist political leader who ideally in a saner clime could not be fit to occupy the seat of the chairman of a party at the local government council level.
