CP leads enforcement of Third-Party Vehicle insurance in Cross River

The Commissioner of Police for Cross River State, Gyogon Grimah, on Tuesday led the enforcement of the Third-Party Vehicle Insurance Scheme in the state.

Grimah headed the team, which consisted of senior officers from the state command, and the operation targeted key locations within Calabar, the state capital, and its surrounding areas.

The operation focused on high-traffic areas, including Effigy Roundabout, Watt Market, IBB Way/Eta Agbor Roundabout, and Murtala Mohammed Highway, near Mainland Filling Station.

During the exercise, police officers observed a significant level of compliance among motorists. However, some were unaware of the insurance requirements, and others had yet to comply.

Grimah assured that the operation would continue until a satisfactory level of compliance is achieved.

“Given the importance of this initiative, we have dubbed it ‘Operation Show Your Third-Party Insurance’ in Calabar,” Grimah explained.

“This operation is in line with the directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun,” he added.

As part of the operation, vehicles with expired or no Third-Party insurance had been impounded and will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

Grimah further emphasised that the operation would continue, urging all vehicle owners to comply and ensure they meet the legal requirements for insurance.
